Anthony Reynolds

Anthony Reynolds is an Australian author who grew up steeped in tabletop gaming and fantasy fiction before moving to the UK in his early twenties to work at Games Workshop, first as a games developer and later as Studio Art Manager. His debut novel appeared in 2006, launching a freelance writing career built around Black Library's Warhammer universe: he is best known for the Word Bearers trilogy, a Horus Heresy-adjacent series following the fanatical Chaos-worshipping Space Marine Legion, alongside a run of Bretonnian novels, standalone books, short stories and audio dramas. A new reader drawn to the Horus Heresy's darker, more zealous side should start with the Word Bearers Omnibus, which gives the clearest sense of his interest in fanaticism and belief as engines of tragedy. In 2014 he shifted careers into video games, joining Riot Games, where he has worked on League of Legends' Champions team and later ran the studio's Worldbuilding function, writing extensively across games, comics and other narrative media. He has lived in the UK and US but now lives back home in Sydney. He has no screen adaptation; his work is known through the printed Black Library catalogue and, more recently, game narrative design.
