Gavin Thorpe

Gavin Thorpe is the full name under which some early Black Library credits list the author more widely known as Gav Thorpe, who spent fourteen years as a Games Workshop developer — eventually running the Warhammer Fantasy game system — before becoming one of the imprint's founding novelists in 1997. He is best known for the Path of the Eldar trilogy, a deeply researched exploration of Eldar (Aeldari) society and its structured spiritual "paths," and for substantial contributions to the Horus Heresy, the Last Chancers series, and the Warhammer Fantasy Sundering novels. Readers new to this author should start with Path of the Eldar for one of Warhammer 40,000's most thoughtful non-human perspectives, or Last Chancers for grittier penal-legion military science fiction.
