Rob Sanders is a British author based in Lincoln, England, and one of Black Library's more versatile contributors, having written across novels, novellas, short fiction, audio dramas, comics, and video game tie-ins for the Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer Fantasy settings. Within the Horus Heresy, he's known for the novellas Cybernetica and The Serpent Beneath, the latter appearing in the New York Times bestselling anthology The Primarchs — giving him credit on one of the series' most commercially prominent side volumes even though his primary contributions are shorter-form rather than mainline numbered novels.
Outside the Heresy, Sanders wrote several of the Beast Arises novels (Predator, Prey, and Shadow of Ullanor), the Space Marine Battles entry Legion of the Damned, and standalone 40K titles including Atlas Infernal, Redemption Corps, and the Adeptus Mechanicus-focused Tech-Priest and Skitarius. He also wrote the Warhammer Fantasy Archaon duology, Everchosen and Lord of Chaos, tracking the rise of one of that setting's ultimate villains. His fiction has been recognized in national writing competitions and featured on the BBC.
A reader coming from the Horus Heresy should treat his novellas as side reading alongside the numbered mainline books rather than a starting point; those wanting a fuller sense of his range should instead start with Legion of the Damned or the Archaon duology, both of which stand more independently.
