Aaron Johnston
Aaron Johnston has written 6 books across 1 series. Start with The Formic Wars.
Aaron Johnston is an American writer and longtime collaborator of Orson Scott Card, with whom he co-authored the Formic Wars series of novels set in the Ender's Game universe. The Formic Wars books expand on the backstory of the alien invasion referenced in Ender's Game, chronicling humanity's first contact and early conflict with the Formics generations before Ender Wiggin's own story, and were developed from ideas Johnston and Card had discussed over years of friendship and collaboration.
Before his novel-writing partnership with Card, Johnston worked extensively in film and television production, experience that informed the visual, high-stakes military plotting of the Formic Wars books. The partnership allowed Card's established universe to expand into new eras and characters while keeping continuity with the original novels' internal logic, a task Johnston approached with close attention to the existing canon. Johnston has continued to write within the Ender's Game universe and other collaborative projects, and remains closely associated with expanding Card's science fiction universe for new audiences.
