Brendan DuBois

Brendan DuBois is an American author from New Hampshire and a former newspaper reporter who has written more than twenty novels and over 150 short stories across mystery, thriller and alternate-history fiction. He is best known for the long-running Lewis Cole mystery series, following a magazine columnist and former Department of Defense analyst investigating crimes along the New Hampshire seacoast, and for Resurrection Day, which won the Sidewise Award for Best Alternative History Novel. In recent years he has become a regular co-author with James Patterson, sharing credit on the bestsellers The First Lady, The Cornwalls Are Gone, After the End and The Witnesses. New readers wanting his independent voice should start with the first Lewis Cole novel, Dead Sand, which established his blend of regional New England atmosphere and classic private-investigator plotting; those who came to him through the Patterson partnership can trace his contributions most directly in The Cornwalls Are Gone and its sequels. DuBois's short fiction has won the Shamus Award three times and appeared widely in genre magazines including Ellery Queen's Mystery Magazine and Alfred Hitchcock's Mystery Magazine. He is also a former Jeopardy! champion. There is no film or television adaptation of his work to date.
