Daniel Abraham

Daniel Abraham is an American author of science fiction and fantasy, best known as one half of the writing team behind The Expanse, published under the joint pen name James S. A. Corey together with Ty Franck. The Expanse, a nine-book space-opera series later adapted into a long-running television show, follows the political and interstellar fallout of humanity's expansion through the solar system, and became one of the defining modern hard-science-fiction series of its era.

Writing under his own name, Abraham has published the fantasy quartet The Long Price Quartet and the epic fantasy series The Dagger and the Coin, praised for grounding magic systems in economic and political consequence rather than pure spectacle. He also collaborates on other projects: he co-wrote the science fiction novella Hunter's Run together with George R. R. Martin and Gardner Dozois, a project the three authors worked on intermittently over roughly two decades before its eventual completion and publication in 2007.

Abraham and Franck, again writing as James S. A. Corey, returned to space opera after The Expanse's conclusion with The Captive's War, a new series beginning with an alien-occupation premise distinct from their earlier work. Abraham has additionally written comics and media tie-in fiction, including contributions to the Star Wars extended universe. He remains one of contemporary genre fiction's most prolific and versatile working authors.
