David French (born 1962) is an English translator from Polish, specializing in literary translation as well as film and television subtitling. A former English teacher, he learned Polish as an adult and is based in Poland, having studied at the University of Manchester, Bedford College and the University of London. He has translated from Polish since the early 1990s, starting with a volume of photography captions before moving into fiction. He has translated Andrzej Sapkowski's Witcher novels into English since 2012, taking over from Danusia Stok partway through the series. In this catalogue he is credited as translator of six of the eight Witcher books: Sword of Destiny (2015), Time of Contempt (2013), Baptism of Fire (2014), The Tower of the Swallow (2016), The Lady of the Lake (2017), and Season of Storms (2018).
