Hoang Nguyen is a Vietnamese-American comic book artist and illustrator, born in Vietnam in 1966 and raised in the United States from around age nine. After training as an illustration major and working briefly in advertising design, he moved into comics, breaking in with a RoboCop film-adaptation graphic novel for Dark Horse Comics before moving to Marvel, where he drew issues of Alien Legion and The Punisher, including Punisher: War Zone. He also contributed art to Malibu Comics' Warstrike, and his creator-owned project Metal Militia was optioned for film development by producer Dino De Laurentiis. Nguyen later moved into video games, working as a character modeler at Electronic Arts, as lead artist and character designer on Namco's Dead to Rights, as an art director at Namco Bandai Games, and contributing to Bethesda's Elder Scrolls series. In this catalogue he is credited as the illustrator of The Exile: An Outlander Graphic Novel (2010), a script by Diana Gabaldon retelling the opening third of Outlander from the point of view of Jamie Fraser's godfather, Murtagh -- Nguyen's black-and-white artwork was praised on release for its faithful, closely observed character likenesses.
