Ian Giles is an Edinburgh-based translator working from Swedish, Norwegian and Danish into English. He holds an MA (Hons) in Scandinavian Studies, an MSc in Translation Studies, and a PhD (2018) on the impact of translated Scandinavian literature on the British literary market. Translating commercially and literarily since 2010, he has brought more than 40 Scandinavian titles into English, including novels by Arne Dahl, Carin Gerhardsen and Camilla Lackberg; his translation of Andreas Norman's Into a Raging Blaze was shortlisted for the CWA International Dagger in 2015. He is Chair of the Translators Association and was Chair of SELTA (the Swedish-English Literary Translators' Association) from 2018 to 2024. In this catalogue he is credited as the translator of David Lagercrantz's Rekke and Vargas series: Dark Music, Fatal Gambit and Post Mortem.
