Jody Lynn Nye

Jody Lynn Nye is an American science-fiction and fantasy author known for extensive collaborative work with Anne McCaffrey, contributing to both the Planet Pirates trilogy and the Doona series within McCaffrey's broader body of shared-universe fiction. Planet Pirates grew out of a shared-universe experiment in which McCaffrey developed the core premise — interstellar piracy and a genetic-plague conspiracy threatening the Federation of Sentient Planets — and then co-wrote each of the trilogy's three novels with a different collaborator; Nye co-wrote the concluding volume, continuing threads laid down by McCaffrey and co-author Elizabeth Moon in the earlier books. In the Doona series, Nye continued the world McCaffrey introduced in her 1969 debut Decision at Doona, which imagines human colonists and the feline humanoid Hrruban resolving a territorial dispute over a shared planet not through conflict but through their children befriending each other faster than the adults can manage a diplomatic solution. Beyond her McCaffrey collaborations, Nye has written extensively in her own right across science fiction and humorous fantasy, including work in Robert Asprin's Myth-Weavers universe, and has built a career largely centered on expanding and continuing other authors' established series alongside her solo fiction.
