John Green

John Green is an American young-adult author and online creator best known for The Fault in Our Stars, a novel following two teenagers who meet in a cancer support group that became a massive bestseller and a hit 2014 film, cementing Green as one of the defining voices of the 2010s YA boom. His other novels, including Looking for Alaska, Paper Towns, and An Abundance of Katherines, established a recognizable style: introspective teenage narrators, dense wordplay and literary allusion, and a willingness to treat adolescent characters' emotional and philosophical struggles with real seriousness rather than condescension. Beyond his novels, Green co-created the Vlogbrothers YouTube channel with his brother Hank Green, building one of the earliest and most influential online communities centered on an author's direct relationship with readers, and later co-founded the educational channel Crash Course. In 2008 he co-wrote Let It Snow with Maureen Johnson and Lauren Myracle, three interlocking holiday novellas set during the same blizzard, later adapted into a 2019 Netflix film. Green's combination of literary ambition, direct online engagement with his readership, and consistent critical and commercial success has made him one of the most influential YA authors of his generation.
