Lauren Myracle

Lauren Myracle is an American young-adult and middle-grade author best known for the ttyl series, an early and influential example of a novel told entirely through instant-messenger conversations between three teenage friends, which became one of the defining formal experiments of 2000s YA fiction and was frequently both praised for its realism and challenged by school boards for its frank content. Myracle has published widely across YA and middle-grade fiction since, often centering close female friend groups navigating identity, family upheaval, and first relationships. In 2008 Myracle co-wrote Let It Snow with Maureen Johnson and John Green, three interlocking holiday novellas set during the same blizzard, following characters whose stories cross paths across all three authors' contributions; the book was later adapted into a 2019 Netflix film. The collaboration paired three writers known for distinct but complementary takes on contemporary teenage voice, and it remains one of the best-known multi-author YA anthology projects of its era. Myracle has also written extensively for younger readers, including the Winnie Years middle-grade series, and has been a repeated target of book-challenge and censorship efforts in American schools and libraries, making her one of the more frequently banned YA authors of the past two decades.
