Author
Nick Kyme has written 7 books across 1 series. Start with The Horus Heresy.
Nick Kyme is a British author and longtime Black Library editor, born in Grimsby and based in Nottingham since 2003, when he moved there to work on Games Workshop's White Dwarf magazine before joining Black Library itself. He has since risen to Senior Range Editor there while continuing to write fiction alongside his editorial work, making him one of the few figures who shapes the wider Warhammer fiction line from both sides of the desk.
As a novelist, Kyme is best known for the Tome of Fire trilogy, beginning with Salamander, which follows the Salamanders Space Marine Chapter — a faction distinguished by its members' dark, fire-blasted skin and its unusually compassionate, honour-bound culture compared to other Space Marine chapters. He has expanded that into a wider run of Salamanders novels and short fiction, plus contributions to the Horus Heresy series and earlier Warhammer Fantasy dwarf novels.
A new reader should start with Salamander itself, which introduces the Chapter's culture and key characters before the trilogy widens its scope. Because Kyme has written across both the Horus Heresy's galaxy-spanning civil war and the more contained Salamanders line, readers can approach his work either as a Horus Heresy contributor or as the go-to author for Salamanders lore specifically. He remains active in both writing and editing for Black Library.
Start with the The Horus Heresy series (first published 2006) and read it in publication order.
