R. W. Green

R. W. Green is the professional name of Rod Green, a Dundee-born editor, journalist and author who had already written more than seventy books, solo and collaboratively, before taking on the biggest assignment of his career: continuing M. C. Beaton's Agatha Raisin and Hamish Macbeth cozy mystery series after her death in 2019. Green was not a stranger stepping in cold; he was a longtime friend of Beaton's and is married to Krystyna Green, her former UK editor, and had reportedly already been quietly assisting with her later manuscripts before he took over both series outright. Green began with Agatha Raisin's Hot to Trot (2020) and Hamish Macbeth's Death of a Green-Eyed Monster (2022), matching Beaton's voice closely enough that both series have continued without a reboot or a jarring shift in tone: Agatha's brash, vain, hopelessly nosy detective work in the Cotswolds, and Hamish's lazily brilliant Highland policing, both carry on as if nothing changed. His own Scottish background gives him a natural feel for Hamish's world in particular.
