Reed Farrel Coleman

Reed Farrel Coleman is an American crime novelist, three-time Edgar Award nominee, and multiple Shamus Award winner who was selected to continue Robert B. Parker's Jesse Stone series following Parker's death in 2010, after Michael Brandman had written several installments. Coleman's own acclaimed body of work includes the Moe Prager series, hardboiled Brooklyn-set mysteries noted for their emotional depth and literary ambition within the crime genre, which established his reputation well before he took on Parker's characters. In continuing Jesse Stone, the small-town Massachusetts police chief wrestling with alcoholism and a complicated personal life, Coleman worked to preserve Parker's terse, dialogue-driven style while bringing his own thematic interests in guilt, memory, and moral ambiguity to the character. He wrote several entries in the series, extending Stone's story with cases that balanced the established procedural format with deeper psychological exploration.
