Sam Fisher

Sam Fisher is a pen name used by British science writer and thriller novelist Michael White (1959-2018) for the E-Force disaster-thriller trilogy. Writing as Fisher, White created E-Force, an elite international rescue and response team assembled to handle catastrophes too large or too strange for any single country's emergency services. State of Emergency (2010, also published as E-Force) introduces the team, After Shock (2010) sends it into a devastating earthquake, and Nano (2011) shifts the threat to an engineered nanotechnology disaster. Each book pairs disaster-thriller set pieces with the technical, procedural detail White brought to his solo work under his own name, filtered through a punchier, more commercial voice built for a series about a rescue team battling one catastrophe per book. White also wrote as Tom West (The Titanic Enigma) and, under his own name, a run of historical-conspiracy thrillers, before his death in 2018.
