Tucker Axum III is an American author and former U.S. government special agent who won the second annual James Patterson Co-Author Competition, a contest Patterson ran to discover new writing talent, which led to their collaboration on the thriller Cajun Justice, following an ex-Secret Service agent from New Orleans uncovering dark secrets in Tokyo. Axum grew up in the American South before a career that took him to more than sixty-five countries across five continents as a special agent, conducting criminal investigations, counter-terrorism work, and executive protection assignments. His professional background in federal law enforcement and international security work gives Cajun Justice a level of firsthand authenticity in its depiction of investigative and protective operations. Beyond his Patterson collaboration, Axum has written The Reawakening of Mage Axum, a historical fiction novel inspired by the disappearance of his uncle, an American soldier during World War II. Axum's win in Patterson's co-author competition represented an unusual entry point into commercial thriller publishing, translating a career in federal service directly into a debut bestselling novel.
