Always a Scoundrel closed Suzanne Enoch's Notorious Gentlemen trilogy the following year, in 2009, completing the third and final gentleman's courtship within the same scandal-prone circle of Regency friends introduced in After the Kiss and Before the Scandal (both 2008). As with the earlier two books, each man's friends comment on and complicate his romance in turn, giving the trilogy a running conversation between entries even though each courtship resolves independently.
