About the Alvirah and Willy series
Alvirah Meehan is a former cleaning woman from Queens who wins $40 million in the New York State lottery, and her husband Willy is the plumber she's been married to for decades -- an unglamorous, warm-hearted amateur-detective duo Mary Higgins Clark introduced as supporting characters in Weep No More, My Lady (1987) and spun off into their own series once readers latched onto them.
