The Academy is a three-book series following three unlikely friends -- cadets thrown together at the NYPD police academy -- as they train to become officers and, one by one, fall for people who complicate the job. It opens with Disorderly Conduct, in which academy cadet Charlie Burns, from an NYPD legacy family expected to be the best in his class, gets tangled up with Ever Carmichael after their off-duty chemistry threatens to become something more than either of them planned. Each book pairs a different cadet-turned-officer with a new love interest, with the same training-class friendships recurring across all three.

Published by Avon in 2017 and 2018, The Academy sits alongside Line of Duty and Crossing the Line as one of Bailey's cop-and-first-responder series, but with a distinctly NYC police-academy flavor -- rookie stakes, family expectations, and the pressure of proving yourself in front of your training class -- rather than the veteran, established-precinct energy of her other law-enforcement series.

How to read this series

Publication order, starting with Disorderly Conduct. Each book follows a different member of the same NYPD academy training class into a new relationship, with recurring classmates appearing across all three books, so reading in order is recommended even though each entry resolves its own couple.
