C. J. Box

C. J. Box is an American crime novelist best known for the Joe Pickett series, following a Wyoming game warden whose investigations into wildlife crimes routinely escalate into far larger conspiracies involving corruption, environmental exploitation, and violence in the rural West. Beginning with Open Season in 2001, the series has grown into more than twenty novels noted for their strong sense of place, environmental themes, and Joe's stubbornly principled, unglamorous heroism. It was adapted into the television series Joe Pickett, which aired on Spectrum Originals and later moved to Paramount+.

Box also writes standalone thrillers, including Three Weeks to Say Goodbye and Blue Heaven, and a companion series of stories following the more morally ambiguous drifter-assassin Nate Romanowski, Joe's close friend and frequent ally within the main series.
