Craig Dirgo

Craig Dirgo is an American author and longtime collaborator of Clive Cussler, having co-written multiple entries in the Oregon Files series following the crew of the spy ship Oregon on globe-spanning missions, as well as nonfiction works connected to Cussler's real-world shipwreck-hunting organization, NUMA (the National Underwater and Marine Agency). Dirgo's early involvement with Cussler predates much of the later Oregon Files collaborative team, and he co-authored nonfiction accounts of actual shipwreck expeditions alongside his fiction work. His fiction contributions to the Oregon Files helped establish the series' template of blending real historical events and locations with high-tech espionage and adventure plotting, a format later continued by other Cussler collaborators after Dirgo's involvement. Dirgo's dual role writing both fiction and nonfiction connected to Cussler's ocean-exploration interests gave his novels a grounding in genuine maritime history and technical detail. He remains associated primarily with the earlier development of the Oregon Files franchise and with documenting Cussler's real shipwreck discoveries through nonfiction collaboration.
