Dawn Cook

Dawn Cook is the legal name of Kim Harrison, the American author best known under her pen name for The Hollows urban fantasy series. Before adopting the Kim Harrison byline, Cook published two epic-fantasy works under her own name in the early-to-mid 2000s: the four-book Truth series, a coming-of-age quest fantasy following Alissa, a foothills girl drawn into a nearly emptied magical Hold and a hunt for a book of world-altering power; and the two-book Decoy Princess duology, following Tess, a commoner raised as a decoy for a kingdom's real princess, who has to master magic she never knew she had to survive palace intrigue and assassination plots.

Harrison has kept the two bylines associated with distinct genres and reading experiences -- Dawn Cook for straighter epic fantasy, Kim Harrison for the urban fantasy and science-fiction-thriller work that made her famous.
