Lee Goldberg

Lee Goldberg is an American author, television writer, and producer whose credits span both original fiction and tie-in novels connected to major TV franchises, including numerous novelizations set in the world of the USA Network series Monk, which he also wrote for as a producer. That television background — pacing built for episodic momentum, banter-heavy dialogue, plots built around a clever procedural hook — carries through most of his fiction, whether original or licensed. Goldberg is best known outside his tie-in work for partnering with Janet Evanovich on the Fox and O'Hare series, launched with The Heist in 2013, which pairs a world-class con artist with the FBI agent who's spent years chasing him in a run of globe-trotting caper thrillers. Goldberg co-wrote the first five Fox and O'Hare novels and both of the series' prequel novellas before handing off co-writing duties on later installments to other collaborators, including Evanovich's son Peter Evanovich and thriller novelist Steve Hamilton. Goldberg has also written original crime fiction of his own, including the Ian Ludlow thriller series, and has worked extensively as a television writer and producer on shows including Diagnosis: Murder and Monk, giving him one of the more unusual careers in commercial fiction: equally at home writing licensed tie-ins, producing network television, and co-authoring bestselling original thrillers.
