About the Bishop Files series

The Bishop Files is Kay Hooper's three-book companion series to her main Bishop/Special Crimes Unit novels, following psychics recruited or protected by the same FBI unit but centering different lead characters than the flagship books. The First Prophet (2012) introduces Sarah Gallagher, who wakes from a coma with uncontrollable psychic visions that cost her the relationship she had before, and who becomes entangled with the secretive network of 'Guardians' who protect vulnerable psychics from a largely invisible enemy. A Deadly Web (2015) follows John Brodie, one of those Guardians, deeper into the same underground conflict, while Final Shadows (2018) brings the trilogy's war over the world's psychics to a head with the survival of millions reportedly at stake. Where the main SCU series is built around Bishop's own unit investigating individual serial-crime cases, the Bishop Files trilogy widens the lens to a larger, more mythological struggle over psychic gifts themselves -- the Guardians, the unnamed enemy hunting psychics, and the stakes of a hidden war running underneath the cases the main series solves one at a time. Miranda and Noah Bishop, familiar to readers of the flagship series, appear here too, but the trilogy's protagonists and throughline are its own.
