About the Caraval series
Scarlett Dragna has spent her life writing letters to the mysterious Master Legend, begging for tickets to Caraval, a once-a-year, invitation-only performance where the audience becomes part of the show. When tickets finally arrive, her wilder younger sister Tella drags her to the game just before Scarlett's arranged marriage — and then Tella is kidnapped as the game's central prize, sending Scarlett racing through five nights of illusions, riddles, and rigged rooms to find her, uncertain the whole time what's real and what's Caraval's trademark manipulation. She teams up with a charming, untrustworthy sailor named Julian, and every alliance, romance, and rescue she thinks she's pulling off might just be another layer of the game.
