The Dream Trilogy follows three lifelong best friends — practically raised as sisters after being taken in by the same San Francisco foster mother — as they band together as adults to open Sirens, a nightclub built from an old warehouse, while each pursues her own long-held ambition alongside a romance. Daring to Dream follows Margo Sullivan, a former model turned aspiring set designer, and her rocky reunion with Josh Templeton, the wealthy family friend she's loved since childhood. Holding the Dream turns to Kate Powell, the group's driven, business-minded planner, and her unexpected romance with Byron De Witt, a private investigator hired to look into the club's finances. Finding the Dream completes the trilogy with Laura Templeton, Josh's sister and the most cautious of the three friends, and single father Michael Torrent, a carpenter renovating the club alongside her.

Each woman's professional dream — set design, business ownership, a stable family life — is woven as tightly into the plot as her romance, and the opening and eventual success of Sirens gives the trilogy a shared, cumulative storyline running underneath the three individual love stories.

How to read this series

Read in publication order — Daring to Dream, Holding the Dream, Finding the Dream — since the three friends' shared project, opening the Sirens nightclub, unfolds gradually across the trilogy and each book picks up where the club's progress left off. The friendship and business plot are less plot-driven than Roberts's later paranormal trilogies, so the books can be read individually, but reading in order gives the fullest sense of the three women's shared history and the club's build-out.
