About the Goosebumps Hall of Horrors series

Goosebumps Hall of Horrors is R.L. Stine's direct continuation of the HorrorLand theme-park conceit, picking up the same setting and framing device right where the numbered nineteen-book HorrorLand line left off. A new Horror called the Story-Keeper listens to a fresh group of kids recount their own brush with the park's dangers -- a cat-swap gone wrong at a sinister pet store, a shrinking accident that turns a living room into a jungle of dust bunnies, an evil doctor collecting sacred masks -- and each story is folded into the Hall of Horrors' growing archive of retellings.

Structurally, Hall of Horrors restarts its own numbering from one rather than continuing HorrorLand's count past nineteen, and it was marketed as its own distinct six-book sub-line even though it shares HorrorLand's cast conceit, setting, and Story-Keeper framing device throughout. Each entry is still a fully standalone scare story, so no familiarity with the earlier HorrorLand books is required, though returning readers will recognize the park's jokey, unsettling atmosphere immediately.

Published across 2011 and 2012, Hall of Horrors closed out the HorrorLand era of the Goosebumps brand before R.L. Stine moved on to the villain-spotlight format of Goosebumps Most Wanted later in 2012.

How to read this series

Read Goosebumps Hall of Horrors in publication order (used here), Claws! (March 2011) through The Birthday Party of No Return (April 2012) -- each book is a standalone scare story with a new protagonist telling the Story-Keeper their own tale, so you can also start anywhere.

This is a direct continuation of Goosebumps HorrorLand's setting and framing device (the same theme park, the same Story-Keeper), but it is numbered and marketed as its own separate six-book sub-line rather than as HorrorLand books 20-25, and is tracked here as a distinct entry from that numbered nineteen-book main line.
