About the Out of Uniform series

Out of Uniform is Elle Kennedy's early-career military-romance series, following a team of Navy SEALs and the women who fall for them, through steamy, banter-heavy contemporary romances shaped by deployment, danger, and close-knit team loyalty. The series began in 2008 with three linked novellas (collected as Hot & Bothered) before expanding into full-length novels; a second novella trio (collected as Hot & Bothered's follow-up, Hot & Heavy) and four full-length books -- currently titled Heart Breaker, Trouble Maker, Ladies Men, and Sweet Talker -- rounded out the run through 2014.

Kennedy substantially reissued the series in the years since its original Samhain publication: the four full-length novels now carry new titles (Heart Breaker was originally Feeling Hot, Trouble Maker was Getting Hotter, Ladies Men was Hotter Than Ever, and Sweet Talker was As Hot As It Gets), which can cause confusion when the series shows up under either name across different retailers. This entry follows the author's own current site (ellekennedy.com), which lists Heart Breaker through Sweet Talker as the four numbered books, with Hot & Bothered and Hot & Heavy as bridging novella collections. Readers who enjoyed Kennedy's later Off-Campus and Briar U sports-romance series can see the same devoted, protective hero archetype already fully formed here, in an earlier military setting.

How to read this series

Publication order, following the author's own current site structure: Hot & Bothered (novella collection), Heart Breaker, Trouble Maker, Hot & Heavy (novella collection), Ladies Men, Sweet Talker. Each entry follows a different SEAL falling for a new love interest, so any book can be read alone, though the shared team of SEALs recurs throughout. Note that older listings may show these same books under their original titles -- Feeling Hot, Getting Hotter, Hotter Than Ever, and As Hot As It Gets -- rather than the current ones; they are the same stories, not additional books.
