About the Part of Your World series

Abby Jimenez — Food Network champion baker turned bestselling novelist — writes romances that make readers laugh on one page and cry on the next, and the Part of Your World series is her signature achievement. It begins when Dr. Alexis Montgomery, an ER physician from a dynasty of Minneapolis surgeons, drives her car into a ditch outside the tiny town of Wakan and is rescued by Daniel Grant, a 28-year-old carpenter and B&B owner. Their story is a small-town/big-city, age-gap romance that doubles as a portrait of a woman untangling herself from family expectation and a controlling past. Yours Truly shifts to Alexis's colleague Dr. Briana Ortiz and the new doctor everyone thinks is rude — Jacob Maddox, whose anxiety hides a heart of gold, and whose old-fashioned letters to Briana become one of the genre's most beloved epistolary courtships (plus a kidney donation you will not see coming). Just for the Summer rounds out the trilogy with Justin and Emma, two people convinced they are each other's good-luck charm: date them, break up, and the next person you meet is your soulmate. Naturally, the curse has other plans. The books share a Minnesota setting, overlapping friend groups, and Jimenez's trademark blend of comedy with weighty themes — toxic families, mental health, caregiving — handled with unusual honesty for the genre. A bonus novella, The Situationship, extends the third book's world.

How to read this series

Publication order is the intended path: Part of Your World (2022), Yours Truly (2023), then Just for the Summer (2024), with the novella The Situationship (2024) as a post-series bonus — it follows characters connected to Just for the Summer and assumes you've read it. That said, each book is a complete standalone romance with its own couple, so you can technically start anywhere; you'll simply catch cameos and callbacks (Alexis and Daniel appear in later books, and Briana's brother's story threads through two of them) with less payoff. If you're new to Abby Jimenez entirely, this series is her strongest work and Part of Your World the natural entry point. Her earlier Friend Zone trilogy and the newer Say You'll Remember Me books are separate worlds — no crossover reading required.
