About the Chaoswar Saga series

The Chaoswar Saga brings Feist's entire Riftwar Cycle to a close: with the Dasati threat contained but the fabric between worlds still unstable, an ancient force from beyond even the gods moves to unmake Midkemia and everything Pug has spent his long life protecting. A Kingdom Besieged and A Crown Imperilled escalate a many-fronted crisis -- invasion, court collapse, magical catastrophe -- across the Kingdom, before Magician's End brings together characters and plot threads seeded across more than a dozen prior books for a deliberately final confrontation, explicitly written by Feist as the conclusion to the entire Cycle he began with Magician in 1982.

Published between 2011 and 2013, the trilogy is the payoff for readers who've followed the Cycle from the beginning: Pug, Magnus, descendants of the original Riftwar Saga cast, and figures from the Conclave, Darkwar, and Demonwar sagas all converge here. It is emphatically not a place to start -- Magician's End in particular functions as a career-capping finale that assumes you've read most or all of what came before -- but as the ending to a fantasy cycle spanning three decades and dozens of books, it's essential for anyone who has followed Pug's story from the beginning.

How to read this series

Read in publication order: A Kingdom Besieged, A Crown Imperilled, Magician's End. This trilogy closes out the entire Riftwar Cycle and rewards, more than any other Feist series, having read broadly across the earlier trilogies first -- ideally the Riftwar Saga, Serpentwar Saga, Darkwar Saga, and Demonwar Saga at minimum. Come to Magician's End last of all Feist's Midkemia books, after everything else; it was explicitly written as the Cycle's series finale rather than an entry point for new readers.
