The Cousins O'Dwyer Trilogy follows three cousins of the O'Dwyer family, descendants of a legendary Irish witch, who run a horse farm and falconry business together in the Irish countryside while carrying on their ancestor's centuries-old fight against the dark sorcerer Cabhan. Dark Witch introduces Iona Sheehan, an American newcomer discovering her Irish witch heritage for the first time, as she moves in with her cousins Branna and Connor and falls for their neighbor, horse trainer Boyle McGrath, while Cabhan's presence begins stirring again after three hundred years. Shadow Spell turns to Connor, the group's easygoing brother, and his complicated history with childhood friend Meara Quinn, a fellow horsewoman drawn deeper into the fight against Cabhan. Blood Magick completes the trilogy with Branna, the family's most powerful witch, and her fraught, centuries-spanning bond with shapeshifter Fin Burke — a man tied to Cabhan by blood — as the O'Dwyers finally move to end the sorcerer's curse for good.

As in Roberts's earlier Circle Trilogy, the family's supernatural battle runs through and beneath all three romances: Cabhan grows stronger with each book, and the trilogy builds to one shared final confrontation that only the combined power of all three cousins — and the people who love them — can end.

Read in publication order — Dark Witch, Shadow Spell, Blood Magick — the three books follow one continuous fight against the dark sorcerer Cabhan, escalating from book to book and resolving only in the final volume. Each novel centers on a different O'Dwyer cousin's romance, but the family's shared magical history and the growing threat from Cabhan connect all three tightly enough that reading out of order will cost you real plot context.
