About the Devlin Quick Mysteries series
After two decades writing the adult Alexandra Cooper legal thrillers, Linda Fairstein turned to a middle-grade audience with the Devlin Quick Mysteries, a three-book series following twelve-year-old Devlin 'Dev' Quick as she investigates crimes across New York City using observation, curiosity and a working knowledge of the city her prosecutor mother and police-commissioner stepfather move through professionally. Into the Lion's Den (2016) opens the series with a break-in at the American Museum of Natural History and introduces Dev alongside her best friends and the family connections that give her unusual access to real investigations. Digging for Trouble (2017) sends her digging -- literally -- into a mystery involving a Manhattan construction site, and Secrets from the Deep (2018) closes the trilogy with a case set around New York Harbor. Fairstein built the series explicitly in the tradition of Nancy Drew: family-friendly mysteries with no violence or vulgarity, aimed at giving younger readers the same puzzle-solving pleasure as her adult novels without any of their adult content.
