The Grimstone series by Sophie Lark has 2 books and is best read in publication order, starting with Grimstone (2023).
Start here: Grimstone (2023) — then read straight through in publication order.

The order the books were released — the default way to read the series.
Grimstone is Sophie Lark's romantic-thriller duology set in a moody, secret-soaked beach town of the same name, a departure from the mafia and campus settings of her Underworld and Kingmakers books. Grimstone opens the series with Remi Hayes, who arrives in town to rebuild her life after her fiance's affair, only to be pulled into the town's undercurrent of buried secrets and danger alongside a dangerous new attraction. Monarch, published a year later, widens the lens on the town itself, following a new pairing while deepening the mysteries introduced in the first book.
Each Grimstone book is written as a standalone romantic thriller rather than a continuing single plot, sharing a setting and atmosphere rather than a couple, similar in structure to how Lark's Underworld books each stand alone within one shared criminal underworld.
Publication order: Grimstone, then Monarch. Each book is a standalone romantic thriller with its own central couple and resolved mystery, so either can technically be read first, but publication order lets the town's accumulating secrets and returning atmosphere build as intended.
Two so far: Grimstone (2023) and Monarch (2024). No third book has been announced as of this writing.
Publication order: Grimstone, then Monarch. Each is a standalone romantic thriller set in the same town, so either works as an entry point.
No shared characters or setting -- Grimstone is a separate, standalone romantic-thriller world distinct from her mafia (Underworld, Brutal Birthright) and dark-academia (Kingmakers) series.
Remi Hayes moves to the secretive beach town of Grimstone to rebuild her life after a broken engagement, and finds herself drawn into both a dangerous new romance and the town's buried secrets.
Too early to say -- two books have been published as of this writing, with no third confirmed.
