About the Guardians Trilogy series

The Guardians Trilogy sends six strangers — three men and three women, each gifted with a different elemental power — on a globe-spanning quest to recover three mythical stars scattered across the earth by the goddess of the moon before an ancient evil can find them first. The group, drawn together by visions none of them can explain, includes an archaeologist, a treasure hunter, a warrior, a healer, a scholar, and a fighter, each with a personal reason to distrust fate even as it keeps throwing them together. Stars of Fortune opens the quest on the island of Corfu as archaeologist Sasha Riggs and adventurer Bran Killian search for the first of the three fire stars. Bay of Sighs moves the hunt to Croatia as the group's fierce fighter Annika and scholar Doyle Manning close in on the water star while old grudges within the group surface. Island of Glass closes the trilogy back in Ireland, where healer Riley and archaeologist-turned-treasure-hunter Ilya finish the search for the final star while the six friends confront the dark force that has been hunting them the entire journey.

Roberts structures the trilogy like a globe-trotting adventure novel as much as a romance: each book is a new location and a new star, but the six travelers' growing loyalty to each other, and the danger closing in behind them, is one continuous story that only concludes in the third book.

How to read this series

Read in publication order — Stars of Fortune, Bay of Sighs, Island of Glass — the six-person group and their quest for the three stars form one continuous adventure, with the identity and power of the villain hunting them only becoming clear as the trilogy progresses. Each book pairs off a different couple within the group, but because all six travel together throughout, and the final confrontation in Island of Glass depends on everything established in the first two books, this is not one to sample out of sequence.
