About the Jamison Valley series

Jamison Valley is the small-town Montana series that launched Devney Perry's career, and it set the template she'd return to for a decade: standalone romances sharing one valley, one cast of recurring families, and a slow-build emotional core under all the banter. The Coppersmith Farmhouse opens things with a single mother who returns home to run her late grandmother's ranch and butts heads with the brooding rancher renting her pastures, and each following book hands the pen to a new couple from the same tight-knit community, from a coffee-shop owner and a bull rider to a reporter chasing a story that hits closer to home than she expects.

What made the series a breakout is Perry's mix of grounded, working-class Montana settings with unhurried, deeply felt romances, real family friction, financial stress, grief, addiction in the background, paired with genuinely funny small-town texture: nosy neighbors, diner gossip, and a town that shows up for its own. The Candle Palace closes the original six-book run with a scarred hero and the nurse who cared for him, a quieter, more emotionally intense entry that both readers and Perry herself have called the series' best.

Jamison Valley isn't plotted as one continuous arc, so any book works as an entry point, but reading in publication order lets the walk-on characters from earlier books land properly when they resurface. It's also the shared world Perry returned to for the connected Clifton Forge spinoff series, so finishing Jamison Valley first pays off there too.

How to read this series

Publication order, starting with The Coppersmith Farmhouse. Every book is a standalone romance with a new couple, so you can technically start anywhere, but the town and its recurring cast are introduced gradually and reward reading in order. There's no cliffhanger structure to worry about; each entry resolves its own couple's story.

The series ran for six books between 2017 and 2019, all released within about two years, so there's no need to wait between entries. Once you finish, the Clifton Forge series is a direct spinoff set in the same world with a recurring character connection, making it the natural next stop.
