About the Knight and Moon series

Emerson Knight is a reclusive, eccentric billionaire genius with an eidetic memory and zero grasp of normal social conventions; Riley Moon is the buttoned-up junior bank analyst assigned to babysit him after he notices a financial irregularity that turns out to hide something much bigger. Knight and Moon pairs Evanovich's trademark odd-couple chemistry with a puzzle-box plot -- in Curious Minds, a Fort Knox conspiracy; in Dangerous Minds, a ship of drugged-out billionaires and a hunt for a legendary lost fortune -- and leans harder into quirky adventure-comedy than straight crime fiction. Riley's practical competence and Emerson's savant-like brilliance and complete cluelessness about ordinary life create the same friction-and-attraction dynamic that drives Plum and Wicked, but here it plays out through globe-hopping capers rather than local bounty-hunting.

Co-written with playwright and novelist Phoef Sutton, who also joined Evanovich for Wicked Charms, the series ran two books in 2016 and 2017 and hasn't continued since, with no further entries publicly announced. Its short run and stand-alone plots make it an easy, low-commitment series for readers curious about the more overtly comic, adventure-plot end of Evanovich's range without diving into a decades-long series like Plum.

How to read this series

Read in publication order: Curious Minds (2016), then Dangerous Minds (2017). Each book is a self-contained caper built around its own puzzle -- a Fort Knox conspiracy in the first, a billionaire's yacht and a lost fortune in the second -- but Emerson and Riley's working relationship and mutual exasperation develop across both, so reading them in sequence is the natural way in. With only two books published and no further entries announced since 2017, there's nothing to catch up on, though the series hasn't been formally ended either.
