About the Three Sisters Island series

Three Sisters Island is set on a small, fictional island off the coast of Massachusetts founded three hundred years earlier by three witches who bound themselves and their descendants to protect the island from a vengeful, dark sorcerer. Every generation, three women descended from those founding sisters must come together to renew the protective spell before the sorcerer, Lorcan, breaks free and destroys the island. Dance Upon the Air opens with Nell Channing, fleeing an abusive marriage under a new identity, arriving on the island and slowly discovering both her own latent magic and a fierce new love with local sheriff Zack Todd. Heaven and Earth follows sharp, skeptical geologist Ripley Todd, who resists her witch heritage at every turn, and her combative attraction to the island's new bookstore owner, MacAllister Booke, a folklorist investigating the island's legends. Face the Fire completes the trine with Mia Devlin, the island's confident bookshop-and-café owner and practicing witch, confronting a decade-old heartbreak when her first love, magazine writer Sam Logan, returns to research the very legend she's living.

Across the trilogy, the three women's individual love stories are inseparable from the larger threat: only by trusting their own power and each other can they complete the ritual and finally end Lorcan's three-hundred-year curse, which comes to a head in the climactic third book.

How to read this series

Read in publication order — Dance Upon the Air, Heaven and Earth, Face the Fire — this is a true trilogy with one continuous supernatural plot (the battle against the dark sorcerer Lorcan) building across all three books toward a single climax in the final volume. Each book centers on a different woman's romance, but the island-wide threat and the three heroines' growing bond as "sisters" only make sense read start to finish; Face the Fire in particular resolves stakes set up in the first two books and shouldn't be read out of order.
