The Verenmore Volumes are a series of interconnected but standalone gothic romances set at the University of Verenmore, a centuries-old castle-turned-school with a history of vanishing students and traditions nobody outside its walls understands. Gothikana, the opener, follows Corvina Clemm, raised in isolation by her reclusive mother, who arrives at Verenmore on an unexpected scholarship and is drawn into a dangerous entanglement with Vad Deverell, the magnetic, secretive professor who knows exactly what the castle is hiding — and why students disappear there every five years. It's a dark-academia spin on Beauty and the Beast, thick with gothic atmosphere and slow-building obsession.
Arkana turns the clock back to 1872, telling an earlier chapter of Verenmore's history as a dark historical gothic romance rather than a direct sequel to Corvina's story. Each volume can be read on its own, connected only by the university's setting and its buried secrets rather than a shared cast or continuous plot.
Gothikana and Arkana are each standalone stories set at the University of Verenmore in different eras, so they can technically be read in either order. Publication order — Gothikana (2021), then Arkana (2027) — is the more natural approach since Gothikana introduces the Verenmore setting and its central mystery.
Two: Gothikana (2021) and the forthcoming Arkana (January 12, 2027).
No — each is a standalone romance set in a different era at the same University of Verenmore, connected by setting and mystery rather than cast.
No, unrelated universe and genre — Verenmore Volumes is dark academia gothic romance, not organized-crime dark romance.
January 12, 2027, per its publisher listing; a deluxe edition is also planned.
