The Zero Saga is H. D. Carlton's earliest published work and a departure from the dark contemporary romance she'd later become known for with Cat and Mouse: a post-apocalyptic, alien-invasion dystopian duet. Zero Alvarado has spent her life sheltering underground near a compromised Area 51 as parasitic infections turn the population into cannibalistic "Hollows." When the infestation spreads and a mysterious ally named Ronan enters her world, Zero is forced to navigate survival, warfare against an alien threat, and a dangerous connection to someone who isn't entirely human anymore.
Published in 2018 and 2019, before Haunting Adeline made Carlton a breakout dark-romance name, The Zero Saga is grittier sci-fi than her later catalog and largely unconnected in tone to Cat and Mouse or her standalone romances.
Read in order: Hollow, then Untainted. It's a continuous two-book story, not standalone entries. No connection to Cat and Mouse, Hollow Graves Duet, or Carlton's standalone novels — different world, different genre (dystopian sci-fi rather than contemporary dark romance).
Two: Hollow (2018) and Untainted (2019). The duet is complete.
No — it's an earlier, unrelated dystopian sci-fi duet with its own cast and world, published before Carlton's dark-romance breakout.
Hollow, then Untainted — it's a single continuous story.
It has romantic elements, but it's primarily post-apocalyptic/alien-invasion dystopian sci-fi rather than the contemporary dark romance of Cat and Mouse or Carlton's standalones.
