About the Zoo series

Young biologist Jackson Oz watches animal behavior turn violently, coordinated and inexplicably aggressive worldwide -- lion ambushes in Africa, swarming attacks in cities -- and races to convince world governments of a threat they'd rather dismiss. James Patterson and Michael Ledwidge built Zoo (2012) as a high-concept eco-thriller in the mold of a disaster movie, and it became one that literally became one: a three-season CBS television adaptation followed.

Zoo 2 (2016), a shorter follow-up written with Max DiLallo, continues the story past the original novel's ending.

How to read this series

Read Zoo (2012) first -- it's the full-length novel that sets up the global animal-attack premise and Jackson Oz's fight to be believed. Zoo 2 (2016) is a shorter continuation for readers who want to know what happens next; it's optional rather than essential; the first book tells a complete story on its own.
