About the Sky Fall series

Vane Weston has spent four years being told the tornado that killed his parents was an accident. Then Audra, a striking girl who's been secretly guarding him his whole life, reveals the truth: Vane is a Westerly, one of four elemental windwalker clans locked in a war for control over the weather itself, and the storm that orphaned him was an assassination attempt that's about to try again. As Audra trains Vane to control powers he never knew he had, the two are drawn together despite Audra's oath to protect, not fall for, her charge.

Shannon Messenger wrote this trilogy before Keeper of the Lost Cities became her flagship series, and it shows some of the same instincts in miniature: a slow-burn romance built on secrets and duty, a tightly-plotted elemental magic system, and cliffhanger endings that pull readers straight into the next book. It's aimed at a slightly older YA readership than Keeper, with higher romantic and physical stakes.

The trilogy tells one complete, continuous story of the windwalker clan war and Vane and Audra's relationship, closing out fully with the third book.

How to read this series

Read the three novels in publication order: Let the Sky Fall, Let the Storm Break, Let the Wind Rise. It's a single continuous story with cliffhanger endings between books, so start with book one and read straight through.
