The Letty Davenport series by John Sandford has 2 books and is best read in publication order, starting with The Investigator (2022).
Start here: The Investigator (2022) — then read straight through in publication order.

The order the books were released — the default way to read the series.
Letty Davenport is Lucas Davenport's adopted daughter from the Prey series, now grown up and working as an investigator for a U.S. Senate committee, whose own instinct for danger and violence proves to be a close match for her father's. John Sandford launched this newest branch of the Prey universe with The Investigator in 2022, sending Letty into Texas oil country to look into a land-fraud case that turns considerably more lethal than the paperwork suggested.
Dark Angel (2023) moves Letty into intelligence-adjacent work, tracking down a group of hackers targeting Chinese assets on U.S. soil. The series keeps Sandford's plot-forward, fast-clipped style while giving him a younger, federal-level protagonist distinct from both Lucas Davenport and Virgil Flowers, and continues to cross over lightly with the wider Prey cast. Fans of Prey who want to see the next generation of the Davenport family, or readers new to Sandford wanting a contemporary entry point, are the natural audience.
Publication order: The Investigator (2022), then Dark Angel (2023). Some familiarity with Lucas Davenport from the Prey series adds resonance, since Letty is his adopted daughter, but each Letty Davenport novel is a self-contained case that doesn't require having read Prey first.
Two so far: The Investigator (2022) and Dark Angel (2023).
