About the Survivors series
A mysterious cataclysm -- the "Big Growl" -- levels the city and scatters its dogs, and Lucky, a solitary stray who's always avoided packs, finds himself forced to lead a ragtag group of former pets and strays trying to survive in a suddenly feral, human-free world. Erin Hunter turns the Warriors formula toward dogs and pack politics: territory, hierarchy, loyalty, and the tension between Lucky's independent streak and the safety a pack provides, all filtered through vivid canine sensory detail -- scent, hunger, and the pull of pack instinct -- that grounds the survival stakes.
The original six-book arc tells a complete story of Lucky's pack finding its footing in the ruined city and surrounding wilds. The sequel arc, Gathering Darkness, picks up with a new generation of dogs and raises the stakes further, introducing rival packs, a cult-like antagonist faction, and darker questions about what a pack owes its members versus what it demands from them.
